Privacy Policy
Countdown collects nothing about you.
There is no account to create, no analytics to switch off, and no server for anything to be sent to. This page sets out exactly what the app keeps, where it keeps it, and the one circumstance in which any of it leaves your phone.
- No internet permission Android will not open a network connection for an app that has not asked for one, so Countdown cannot transmit anything — not by design, and not by mistake.
- Stays on your device Everything it remembers — your presets, your toggles, the timer that is running — is written only to your phone.
- No tracking of any kind No advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking code of any kind in the app.

01What the app keeps on your device
- Timer presetsThe durations in the row beneath the dial.
- Alert settingsWhether sound, vibration, and the per-second tick are switched on.
- AppearanceLight, dark, or follow the system.
- The current countdownHow long is left and when it finishes, so a running timer survives the app closing or the phone restarting.
- Three small sound filesThe tick and the finish chime, generated by the app rather than shipped with it, held in its own cache. Clearing the app's cache simply regenerates them.
None of this identifies you. The app stores no name, no email address, no phone number, no advertising or device identifier, no location, no contacts, and no record of how you use it.
02The one thing that can leave your phone
If you have Android Backup switched on, Android copies the app's settings file into the backup held in your own Google Drive, so that a new phone can restore your presets instead of starting empty. That is Android doing it, not Countdown asking for it.
The backup belongs to your Google account. We have no access to it, receive no copy of it, and are not told it exists. You can stop it at any time in your phone's settings, usually under Settings → Google → Backup, where Countdown can be excluded or backup turned off entirely.
Nothing else ever leaves the device.
03Permissions, and what each is for
Every permission the app requests is listed here. There are no others.
-
FOREGROUND_SERVICE
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USEKeeps the countdown running, and its notification accurate, while the app is in the background or the screen is off.
-
USE_EXACT_ALARM
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARMLets the alert fire at the exact second it is due. A timer that goes off late is a broken timer.
-
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENTLets the alert light up a locked screen when time is up, the way an alarm clock does.
-
POST_NOTIFICATIONSShows the running countdown on the lock screen, and the alert when it reaches zero.
-
VIBRATEThe buzz when time is up, and the short cue shortly before it.
-
WAKE_LOCKAllows the alert to sound while the phone is asleep.
-
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETEDRestores a countdown that was still running when the phone restarted.
-
INTERNETNot requestedThis is the permission an app would need to send anything anywhere, and its absence is what makes everything above verifiable rather than merely promised.
04Your rights over your data
Privacy law gives you the right to see the personal data an app holds about you, to correct it, to take a copy of it elsewhere, and to have it erased. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show you, correct, export, or delete, and no request for you to make.
The data on your own device is yours to remove: uninstalling Countdown deletes all of it. If you also want to remove the Android backup described above, that is done from your Google account's backup settings.
05Children
Countdown is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information from anyone, children included. There is nothing in the app that a child could disclose to us, because there is no route by which anything reaches us.
06Changes to this policy
If the app ever begins handling data differently, this page will be updated and the effective date changed before that version is released. Because the app has no network access, any such change would require a new version from the Play Store, which you would choose to install.
